Higson 4.3: AI Agent, MCP Server, and faster versioning

Higson 4.3 is now generally available. This release brings AI into Higson Studio as an assistant working side by side with your team - and delivers measurable performance gains along the way.
Higson AI Assistant (beta)
The AI Agent runs directly inside Higson Studio, with access to your domain model, context types, and rule history. It generates functions in Groovy or Python from a natural-language description, refines existing ones in place, and drafts decision tables from a business requirement. The underlying AI model is the one your organisation already procures and approves - Higson connects to it rather than hosting it.
Higson MCP Server
Model Context Protocol is the emerging standard for connecting AI assistants to the systems where real work happens. The new Higson MCP Server lets tools such as Claude Code securely explore your configuration, create and edit decision tables, functions, domain models and flows, run test cases, and stage changes. Control is built in: AI changes are staged, reviewed, and published by a person - never applied on their own - with access through a secure token you manage.
Diagnostic Panel
Every rule invocation is recorded as a detailed dump and analysed inside Higson Studio: flamegraphs, heatmaps, and interactive charts that turn days of bottleneck hunting into minutes.
Also in 4.3:
- Lighter versioning - lower memory usage on large configurations and faster snapshot export and import.
- Asynchronous configuration import with automatic failover: if an instance restarts, another takes over, and checksums prevent duplicates.
- Granular, profile-based permissions with a full audit trail.
- License protection with progressive renewal notifications and Runtime usage diagnostics, plus a new developer license for test, development, and staging environments.
Higson supports the three most recent LTS versions, so with 4.3 entering General Availability, LTS 4.0 will be retired. Still on 4.0? Contact us about an upgrade path - we'll help you estimate the scope and plan the process before your current LTS loses official support.
